Canada Moves to renegotiate NAFTA

MONTREAL, QC—With a new administration in the United States, Canada is ready to renegotiate the NAFTA Trade Agreement. Canada wants to improve its economy through raising wages and more efficient production.

During the Canadian House of Commons meeting, members of the parliament discussed possible amendments to the NAFTA agreement with the United States and Mexico.

The electoral districts of Bellechasse Les Etchemins Levis, Brampton South and Port Moody Coquitlam bonded together to present a new agreement concerning trade in hopes of bettering Canada’s economy and ensuring it stays stable.

Avalon’s representative says they “want to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities,” when it comes to raising taxes and to be positive the citizens of Canada feel heard and cared for by their government.

Though many possible improvements were recommended to the House of Commons, the one that many districts agreed on would increase the minimum wage. Still, not everyone was in agreement.

“With an increase in minimum wage, comes an increase in inflation,” said Courtenay Alberni’s representative.

Members of the House of Commons are continuing to discuss the best improvements for the country and are looking to negotiate the Trans-Pacific Partnership. One of the main goals is to give the parliament more say in what workers are hired and their treatment.

While discussing resolutions, tax breaks where suggested to promote more renewable energy sources. Parliament members say new agreements between the United States and Mexico will be discussed soon.
